Eye Injury Prevention
Squash Eye Injury Prevention campaign 2007
A squash ball can travel at speeds of over 200km per hour which, combined with the small confines of the court, ranks squash among the riskiest sports for eye injury.
In partnership with the Victorian Squash Federation, the Vision Initiative launched an eye prevention campaign on 26 August 2007, targeting Victorian squash players.
The campaign ran at four selected venues:
- Ballarat Squash and Racquetball Fitness Centre
- Bendigo Squash Centre
- Epping Squash Centre
- Westerfolds Sports Centre in Templestowe.
The main goal of the campaign was to promote the use of ‘approved’ protective eyewear through education about the risk of eye injury and by promoting the fact that almost all squash related eye injuries can be prevented if proper protection is worn.
