Australian Health Promotion Association Conference

The annual Australian Health Promotion Association Conference was held in Melbourne on 31 May to 2 June 2010. The theme of the conference was: Walking the talk together—partnerships for health promotion.

The Vision Initiative presented, as part of the Healthy Ageing stream, about the program and how a partnership model has been developed to ensure the eye health and vision care sector work collaboratively to tackle avoidable vision loss and blindness in Victoria.

Key Vision Initiative partnerships discussed included those with:

• stakeholders from the eye health and vision care sector, education and health promotion organisations represented on the Vision Initiative Steering Committee
• professional education liaison officers from Optometrists Association Victoria and The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists
• stakeholders from the broader sectors of health, education, government and sport engaged at regular consultation workshops
• project partners in the development of education resources for target community and professional groups.
