Orthoptics Australia Optimed July Scientific Meeting

The Victorian Branch of Orthoptics Australia held their Optimed July Scientific Meeting on Saturday 24 July in the Yarra Valley, with over 60 orthoptists in attendance. As part of the scientific program, the Centre for Eye Research Australia in collaboration with the Vision Initiative, presented the findings of the Orthoptists Low Vision Study. This collaborative research project was completed during 2009 and profiles low vision service provision and referral practice to low vision services by orthoptists.

In addition, the Low vision services information sheet produced by the Vision Initiative was distributed to attendees at the meeting. A three month evaluation will be conducted to establish the appropriateness and impact of this resource for daily practice.
