Inclusion of eye health and vision care information in the Well for Life program

« Back to News

Well for Life is a package funded by the Victorian Department of Health aimed to improve the health, independence and well being of residents living in aged care facilities. The Well for Life manuals have been developed for staff working in aged care settings and are guidelines to enhance the care they provide.

There are two existing resources, one focusing on physical activity and the other on nutrition. A third resource is under development for mental health and well being. The manuals are intended to be used for in house training of staff and contain power point presentations, fact sheets and activities. They may also be used as a reference for preferred practice guidelines in aged care.

The Vision Initiative has partnered with the Aged Care Branch to review the Well for Life resources and ensure eye health and vision care is included in the appropriate sections. In addition, information will be added on low vision services and the best way for clients to access them.
