The good news

Vision loss and blindness affects more than 600,000 Australians and this number is rising.

Approximately 80 per cent of vision loss and blindness is caused by five main eye conditions: age-related macular degeneration (AMD), cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma and refractive error.

The good news is that 75 per cent of vision loss is preventable or treatable.

Many eye conditions have no symptoms in their early stages. Regular eye tests are essential to help detect these eye conditions early and prevent avoidable vision loss. In addition, there are many simple things you can do every day to protect your sight.
