About Vision 2020 Australia

Vision 2020 Australia is the national peak body for the eye health and vision care sector.

We represent organisations involved in local and global eye health and vision care, health promotion, low vision support, vision rehabilitation, eye research, professional assistance and community support.

Our mission is for the elimination of preventable blindness and vision loss and the full participation of people who are blind and vision impaired in the community.

To support this mission, we provide eye health education for primary health professionals and plain language information to support patient interactions.

About the Vision Initiative

Established in 2002, The Vision Initiative was an integrated eye health promotion program funded by the Victorian Government and managed by Vision 2020 Australia. The program aimed to prevent avoidable blindness and address the impact of vision loss in the Victorian community.

The Vision Initiative worked collaboratively with many partner organisations across the health and eye health sectors at local and state level in Victoria to deliver activity to promote the importance of regular eye tests to the Victorian community.
