National Centre for Farmers’ Health Biennal Conference

Sowing the seeds of farmer health

This National biennial event is being held for the second time in 2012 from the 17th – 19th September at the Hamilton Performing Arts Centre, Hamilton, Victoria.

The conference brings together agri-professionals, health professionals and industry leaders, researchers, policy makers, local government, health agencies, community members and farming men and women and allied industries all in the pursuit of improved health, well-being and safety for farming men, women and agricultural workers.

The objective of the event is to raise awareness and develop strategies to improve farmer health, well-being and safety. Some of the themes which will be discussed this year include:

  • Mental health
  • Chronic disease and healthy lifestyles
  • Agricultural hazards and safety
  • Agriculture in a changing climate
  • The business of farming
  • Human and animal health
  • Ageing in place on farm
  • Primary and preventative health
  • Education and Training
  • Partnerships and community action
