Media campaigns

Working with the local media

The Vision Initiative works with local media outlets (print, radio, TV) to ensure more information on eye health and vision care is made available to residents living in project areas.

Community Service Announcements are regularly aired on local radio and TV, articles on eye health printed in the local papers and eye health posters are placed in prominent areas seen by the public.

Social media

All year around, eye health messages and new are published on the Vision 2020 Australia Twitter feed and Facebook page.

World Sight Day

World Sight Day is an annual day of awareness to focus global attention on blindness and vision impairment, and is held on the second Thursday in October each year.

This year World Sight Day will be on Thursday 12 October 2017.

Each year, the Vision Initiative gets involved with Vision 2020 Australia’s #snapforsight campaign which encourages Australians to capture and share their moments via social media.

By capturing and describing moments that really matter to them and posting it to Twitter, Facebook or Instagram with the #snapforsight hashtag, people can help to raise awareness about the importance of vision care, eye health and regular eye examinations across Victoria and Australia.
