Ageing and eye health

While eye conditions can develop at any age, it is important to know that the risk increases as we get older.

Eye conditions such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD), cataracts or glaucoma are more common in people aged 40 or over. Presbyopia, a type of refractive error, also becomes more common as people enter their forties.

It is estimated that the number of people affected by vision loss trebles with each decade over the age of 40.

If you are 40 or over, make sure you have regular eye tests with an eye health professional every two years or as recommended by your eye health professional.
