General practice services

General Practitioners (GPs)

GPs are often the first health professional you may visit when you have a concern with your health. GPs can give you information on eye health and vision care, carry out an immediate assessment and prescribe treatment for some eye problems. If required, your GP may redirect you to a local optometrist or refer you to an ophthalmologist.

Practice nurses

Practice nurses provide assessment, screening, care and education to patients from all sections of the community. A practice nurse may be part of the team involved in the management of chronic conditions such as diabetes.
