Vision Initiative

The Vision Initiative and the Australian Diabetes Educators Association (ADEA) have partnered to develop ‘Diabetes and eye health’, a free new online training module on eye health tailored to diabetes educators.

In Australia most vision loss from diabetes can be prevented with early detection and treatment. However, it is estimated that only half of Australians with diabetes have regular eye examinations and one third have never had their eyes checked.

Diabetes educators are uniquely positioned to play a critical role in educating people living with diabetes about eye health and the importance of regular eye tests.

The module covers topics such as eye anatomy, diabetic retinopathy and other eye conditions that may affect people living with diabetes and KeepSight.
