Keeping an eye on eye health – Training for GPs – Echuca

Presented by the Vision Initiative in collaboration with Murray PHN.

The session will provide GPs with an understanding of the common eye conditions contributing to avoidable blindness and vision loss in Australia, practical applications to reduce the risk of blindness and vision loss among at-risk populations, a better understanding of triggers and appropriate management of red eye(s) and superficial ocular trauma and referring appropriately to eye health providers including optometry, ophthalmology and low vision and rehabilitation service providers.

Time: 6.00-9.15pm. A light meal will be provided.

Part 1 | Practice Managers | 6.00pm – 6.30pm

The Vision Initiative is an integrated health promotion program funded by the Victorian government, and managed by Vision 2020 Australia, that aims to reduce avoidable blindness and vision loss in the Victorian community. Practice Managers in the Campaspe region are invited to an information session to learn about how this program can be incorporated into your practice.

Part 2 | General Practitioners | 7pm – 9.15pm

The clinical education portion of the evening will provide GPs with an understanding of the common eye conditions contributing to avoidable blindness and vision loss in Australia, practical applications to reduce the risk of blindness and vision loss among at-risk populations, a better understanding of triggers and appropriate management of red eye(s) and superficial ocular trauma and referring appropriately to eye health providers including optometry, ophthalmology and low vision and rehabilitation service providers. In addition, RWAV will outline their new indigenous outreach program called the Ear and Eye Surgical Program.
