World Glaucoma Week Ambassadors; Ophthalmologist Prof Ivan Goldberg, Optometrist Prof Michael Kalloniatis and Broadcaster Mr Andrew Voss are asking eye healthcare professionals to host a B.I.G Breakfast event in their practice during the Week, to remind patients that glaucoma can run in families.
Anyone diagnosed with glaucoma can host their own B.I.G Breakfast to “have the conversation” with family members about having a comprehensive and regular eye check.
Early diagnosis and appropriate treatment are the best protection against preventable sight loss caused by this invisible disease.
People diagnosed with glaucoma can also be referred to Glaucoma Australia for free education, support and specific eye drop instillation training.
Eye health Practitioners can contact Glaucoma Australia for a Resource Kit at: www.thebigbreakfast.org.au/prackit/ or by phoning (02) 9906 6640.
